HS Football: Hazen’s 2017 injuries add experience for 2018 season

Sports

Hazen football snagged a playoff spot in 2017, but by the time postseason rolled around their offense was completely different.

That is because the injury bug bit the entire backfield. With just one available fullback in an option offense, the Bison were unable to make it past the first round of the playoffs. While last year, the team looked down on their visit from the injury bug, this year the team views what happened with positive outlook.

“We played a lot of guys in different spots because of the injury bug last year,” head coach Bret Johnsrud said. “We have a lot of experience coming back. They’re still young, but they’re young juniors; they’re experienced juniors. It’s not really a true young team because they all have a year of experience underneath their belts.”

Hazen opens its 2018 campaign at Northern Cass Friday night at 7 p.m.
