HS Girls Basketball: Mandan always looking to improve defensively

National Sports

Mandan girls basketball went 2-0 over the past week, but it wasn’t just victories that the Braves tallied up.

Both Kennedy Harris and Megan Zander eclipsed 1,000 career points in separate victories.

Overall the team is 8-3, and head coach Abby Thomas said part of their success is thanks to improving defensively.

“We’re a pretty good offensive team, and we can be a good defensive team,” Thomas said. “We’re just not as consistent with that end of the floor, so we’re trying to find ways to be more consistent, and trying to have our defense turn into offense, and create transition buckets and things like that.”

Mandan plays Friday at Williston.
