HS Girls Golf: St. Mary’s young, but ready for State Tournament

In girls highs school golf, St. Mary’s had a young team this season, but that did not stop them from qualifying for the state tournament.

Yesterday, the team took fourth at the West Region championship. The upperclassmen — Gabby Easton and Abby Schmidt — have carried them team from the top. However the underclassmen — which include Erin Jahner, Kate Mongeon, and Kiera Oukrop and Hannah Hellman — have really out performed well.

“Be ready at the postseason to be playing our best golf,” head coach Matt Mullally said. “The last couple of meets we’ve seen some good signs from our younger players and the consistency that we want from our veterans.”

The Girls Class A State tournament runs Oct. 1 through the Oct. 2 at the Jamestown Country Club.
