Century girls’ soccer has yet to score a goal in 2018, but the team is confident its ability to keep possession of the ball will yield offensive success.
As with the boys’ team this past fall, Century girls’ soccer has placed a high emphasis on maintaining possession of the ball in the midfield.
Head coach Ryan Okerson said controlling the ball for long stretches of a match leads to solid link-up passes with the strikers, and it also wears down the opposing team.
“Holding possession in the midfield] is our time to rest. When we’re defending, that’s our time to really work, so the more we can possess the ball, the more we’re going to make other teams exert themselves,” Okerson said.
Century next travels to Jamestown on Tuesday night.
