HS Gymnastics: Young Dickinson team poised to defend state title

National Sports

Dickinson High gymnastics has been one of the most dominant programs in North Dakota high school sports.

This year, the defending state champions put together another great regular season by winning every single meet they entered.

It’s no surprise to say Dickinson is favored to defend its title, but what is surprising is how young this team is.

“We have six seventh graders and two eighth graders,” head coach Kent Van Ells said. “Eight of the 14 competitors are junior or middle school athletes.”

Dickinson hosts the WDA regionals on Friday.
