HS Softball: Century with inside track to West’s top seed

National Sports

In high school softball, we are hitting the final weeks of the regular season and Century has the inside track for the No. 1 spot for the West Region tournament.

The Patriots have posted a mark of 14-2 in the WDA. Century’s two remaining conference games are against Watford City.

If the Pats can hold on, this would be their first outright, regular season championship since 2011. While that is a noteworthy accomplishment. The team’s only senior Kelsey Mischel wants more.

“To make my senior season complete it would definitely be winning that state championship,” Mischel said. “That’s a huge goal and I think we can totally do it. Right now we are just working on fixing our small mistakes and just making sure that we are doing the little things right. That’s really going to take us a long ways.”

This weekend, the Pats play West Fargo Sheyenne on Friday and West Fargo on Saturday both are tied at the top of the Eastern Dakota Conference Standings.
