HS Softball: Century’s junior class leading the way

National Sports

In high school softball, Century hopes to continue the power streak they displayed at the plate last season.

The Patriots took third in the West last year and fourth at state behind their power hitting. However, the production from the departed Madi Kostelecky and Amanda Baerlocher will have to be replaced this year, but head coach Kevin Ziegler says his incoming junior class is ready to take up that mantle.

“We had quite a few home runs, and that came from the junior class that we have this year,” Ziegler said. “We’re expecting to go with the long ball and score runs this year. we should have no trouble unless we run into some tough pitching to something like that.”

Century opens its season April 2 at Dickinson.
