HS Swimming: Century takes Capital City Invite

National Sports

Century girls swimming and diving kept up its dominant form on Saturday at the BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center. The Patriots won the Capital City Invite by more than 100 points.

Century swimmers set the tone early in the meet. In the 200 yard freestyle, Carly Palmer created a huge lead that she would not give up, as she won with a time of 1:58.86, six seconds better than the next swimmer.

Next came the 200 individual medley. Century’s Vanessa Herrmann fended off Minot’s Rylie Webb early on in the race, but Herrmann would eventually distance herself from the pack and coast to victory with a time of 2:12.39.

Below are the final team scores from the Capital City Invite:

1. Century           533

2. Fargo Davies  393

3. Minot               369

4. Williston          229

5. Fargo South    182

6. Mandan           146
