In high school wrestling, Century is looking to get some help from of their youngest and smallest members of the team.
Century invited seven, eighth graders to join the varsity team after the middle school wrestling season was complete. When I talked to head coach Jerald Lemar he said three of those eighth graders are expected to get time during varsity competition. He also said this helps them fill out weight classes and hopefully score more points.
“It gives us new bodies to wrestle,” Lemar said, “So our kids are wrestling the same kids every day. Plus it gives the middle schoolers a chance to wrestle some of the older kids, get the experience portion of it.”
Century might need that help when they take on the No. 1 team in the state Bismarck High on Thursday.
