HSBB: Sanford promotes breast cancer awareness through in-city rivalry games

National Sports

On Jan. 20, there are some really bigtime high school basketball games going on at the Bismarck Event Center.

However, there’s also a greater purpose behind the third annual Sanford Classic.

Sanford wants to raise awareness for breast cancer and stress the importance of annual mammograms.

Sanford will give a 100 percent of the proceeds to the Edith Sanford Breast Foundation.

Michelle Lang is breast cancer survivor and says so many people think because they do not have a family history they should not get checked.

“And that’s so not true,” Lang said, “because so many women who don’t have history in their family do get breast cancer.”

Lang will participate in a ceremonial jump ball.
