Tyler Johnson hit Jauhem Byrd for a go-ahead 45-yard touchdown pass to lift the Bismarck Bucks to a 44-42 win over Quad City on Friday night.
The big play came with the Bucks down two points with around five minutes to play in the fourth quarter. Johnson, who had struggled through the air throughout the contest, dropped back into his own end zone and launched the pass deep downfield, hitting Byrd right in stride for the score.
The play awakened an offense that had not scored a second half point after putting up 31 in the first two quarters.
Zavier Steward ran for two touchdowns on the night, with Tyler Johnson and Cody Paul each adding a rushing score of their own.
The Bucks are now 2-1 overall. The team hosts Sioux City next Friday night at the Bismarck Event Center.
