Boys HS Hockey: Century looks to replace historic top line from last year

Local Sports

Well you would not know it by the way the Century boys hockey team has produced so far this season, but they lost one of the most prolific scoring lines in North Dakota History last year.

Last year, the foursome of Kirklan Irey., Isaiah Thomas, Nicholas Brown and Carter Bailey combined to score 102 goals. Irey joined the Bismarck Bobcats and Thomas graduated. Brown and Bailey are the only two back.

This season, with only two games played, the Big Red Scoring Machine has 13 goals and eight of the top 10 point-scores in the state.

“I’m not sure that we are going to be able to put up the points like we did last year to honest with you,” head coach Troy Olson said. “That’s the fun part about coaching high school sports is the team carries a new identity and we are just going to have to find out what our is.”

The next time we see Century will be Dec. 6 when they host Minot.
