Boys HS Hockey: Mandan Boys hockey determined to make State

Local Sports

In boys high school hockey, the Mandan Braves are hoping to break through and make the playoffs for the first time since the 2014-15 season.

Currently, they are not any players on the roster that made the state playoffs as a Brave.

Last year, the team lost out to Bottineau in the state qualifier game.

Mandan already looks like a different team than last season. They opened up the season pulling out a win in a shootout against Jamestown. This team looks determined to make the state playoffs.

“For all of us that have been on the team for more than one year,” senior goalie Maysion Mattern said, “it’s motivation. We really want to make it. It would be huge if got to make it to the state championship final, even the state championship itself.”

On Nov. 27, Mandan travels to play Minot.
