The Dickinson State football team’s season came to an end in the quarterfinals of the NAIA playoffs in Salina, Kan. against Kansas Wesleyan on Nov. 24.
Dickinson State held the lead 28-21 at the end of the first half. Defensive back Jay Liggins came in on offense and a caught a touchdown pass from Hayden Gibson to give DSU the advantage.
Dickinson State took went ahead again in the fourth quarter. Gibson found Tyger Frye for a touchdown pass to put DSU up 40-45 with under five minutes left.
However, the Blue Hawks gave up a rushing touchdown with under a minute remaining.
DSU lost, 43-40.
