Girls HSBB: Trinity looks to lean on veteran backcourt early

Local Sports

In high school girls hoops, Dickinson Trinity comes into the 2018 season with a veteran backcourt.

Dickinson Trinity finished 11-12 last season and lost by one to eventual state runner-up Killdeer in the Region 7 tournament.

Sophomore forward Abby Kubas is back after averaging almost a double double and projects to be the leading scorer. The backcourt is the area that looks to be more fluid in the early part of the season.

“We’re very guard oriented beyond [Kubas],” head coach Carter Fong said. “We have some depth in the guard position. We’ll have four returning seniors, and they’re all guards or guard-forwards. We maybe don’t have a true point guard, but we’re guard by committee.”

The Titans will have to replace All-Region guard Josie Glaser, who averaged over 12 points a game. The Titans begin the season Nov. 30 against Thompson.
