In Class A Volleyball, Century comes into the state tournament as the favorite to win the title. A championship this year would be their fourth in a row.
Century will arrive in Minot with a record of 31-5. The Pats went 19-1 in the West Region this season.
For most of the season, they were the most dominate team. At one point, the club won 16 straight WDA matches and did not give up a game in that stretch.
As the girls get ready for state, they are use to the big stage.
“It’s super bright when you get our there,” defensivie specialist Ashley Scherbenske said. “It’s superbright and there are super high ceilings and it just like a huge crowd around you. It’s a whol different experience.”
“We have to turn our weaknesses into to strengths,” junior defensive specialist Chloe Markovic said. “Our weaknesses would probably be our communication, but this practice has been really competitive and I think that weaknesses have definitely turned into our strengths. We’ve been really practicing a lot.”
Century will play the first match of the Class A Tournament. The defending state champs take on West Fargo Sheyenne at 1 p.m. at the MSU Dome.
