New Salem-Glen Ullin QB/DE Evan Henke signed his letter of intent with Dickinson State on Friday morning.
The 9-Man Senior Athlete of the Year said once he visited DSU, the decision just became clear.
“I just had that feeling,” Henke said. “I talked with other players and they had the same feeling. I picked the right school.”
“I think no matter where he played he’d just be a great addition to our program,” DSU head coach Pete Stanton said. “He’s just a great person, and a great leader, and a guy we’re really excited to have join us.”
Henke told KX Sports he’ll only be playing defense for the Blue Hawks. He said defensive end has always just been the more fun position for him.
“Playing quarterback was always a big leadership role, and I enjoyed that so much, but playing defense–I feel like there’s less pressure,” Henke said. “You just go out and play, and fly around and hit. I feel like that’s going to be the right spot for me.”
Henke tallied 11 sacks and 26 tackles for loss in his senior year with the Holsteins.
