State Hockey: Blizzard survives, WDA eliminated after quarterfinals

In a different format for 2021, the state hockey tournaments started at home ice for the higher seeds in the quarterfinal round.

Starting with the girl’s, the Bismarck Blizzard scored four unanswered goals in the final period to win 5-3 over Mandan.

The Minor girl’s forced overtime in Grand Forks, but couldn’t overcome a 3-2 loss to the Knight Riders. On the boy’s side, all the WDA teams lost to the East side teams for the second year in a row.
