Mandan baseball has a veteran group back for the 2019 season.
The Braves tied for third in the WDA last year and made it to state as the West’s 4 seed. They’ll be without the dependable arms of Easton Miller and Noah Gerhardt, but this year’s class of eight seniors all have pitching experience.
Coach Mack pointed to Easton Andresen, Cole Schmidt, Jackson Zittleman, Garrett Froelich and Jake Weiand as guys that will be counted on to eat plenty of innings on the hill.
Offensively, the team batted .400 as a whole last year, and the seniors expect the batting order to be dangerous once again.
“Our strength right now is definitely our hitting,” senior Jackson Zittleman said. “We have a full lineup that can hit the ball pretty well, so to make up for those lost guys we’ve just got to hit around the yard.”
Mandan’s first game is scheduled for April 5 at Dickinson.
