Bison football is back on the field and eager to defend its FCS crown.
Last time fans saw the Herd they were taking down James Madison for the program’s sixth championship in seven years.
The team thinks another national championship feels like a strong possibility, since this year’s roster has 24 seniors ready to go.
“I really like the guys we have returning on offense at the skill positions, and then with three senior offensive linemen, I think we have excellent leadership on offense,” head coach Chris Klieman said. “Defensively, it’s just finding that really vocal guy, the Tre Dempsey-type guy that will emerge. We’ve got a lot of really quiet leaders on defense, but they hold each other accountable. I’m excited about that side of the ball.”
NDSU opens its season Sept. 1 at home against Cal Poly.
