Nelson gets 2nd chance with new Marauders

National Sports

The University of Mary hockey team is starting its third week of practice in its inaugural hockey season..and the Marauders may already have a bit of luck on their side. Prior to the season, head coach Daniel Huntley had turned to Bismarck native Aaron Nelson to be the team’s goalie coach after he finished what he thought was his collegiate career. However, in December of 2017 the ACHA went to a five-year window for student athlete eligibility. They also said Nelson’s redshirt year at an NCAA Division I school would not count against him and “that” rule change was a huge break for the Marauders who now will have Nelson in the lineup.
