The Minot High football team will kick off west region play on Friday when they host long time rival Bismarck in the west region opener. Both teams are 1-1 on the season with both teams winning
big over Fargo Davies with their losses coming to top ranked West Fargo.  With only 6 counting games in the west region this year the matchup is a big one for both teams and the Magicians know they’ll have to keep a potent Demons offense in check while trying to win the battle up front.

Barry Holmen, MHS Football Coach:There quarterback is an all-state quarterback and their tailback is excellent so offensively we have to stop a real diverse offense that wants to play some smash mouth football at times and they’ll do a lot of play action and take some shots over the top, defensively they come at you and we’re gonna see 4 in the box 7 in the box, they’re gonna come and punch is in the mouth and truly want to dominate you at the line of scrimmage and so we have to answer, we have to get the ball out quick if they’re gonna pressure us they’re gonna give us some chances to throw and so we have to you know take advantage of maybe their over aggresiveness.

Peyton Lamoureaux, Senior:They lost 41-0 to West Fargo but that doesn’t mean anything Bismarck’s always coming ready and you can’t take them lightly we haven’t beat them in the regular season in 11-12 years so just gotta play our game gotta be focused always be ready.

Logan Braaten, Senior:We’re definitely very excited about this upcoming game, they’re always a big test it’s good to see where we’re at, first conference game like you said, should be a good one.

Game time Friday night is at 8 p.m. at Duane Carlson Stadium.
