Dickinson State football has gone 2-1 this pre-season, but this week it’s not about football.
Jamie Council joins us to explain why in this week’s Soarin’ with the Blue Hawks. Jamie?
Johnny, Dickinson actually has a two week break before starting conference play on the 24th at home against Presentation. While they may have a break from football, it’s a special week for head coach Pete Stanton with Stanton Strong Night this Friday,
The University is honoring his brother, Dan, who passed away from a brain tumor last year. On Friday, there will be a Stanton Strong fundraiser at the Blue Hawk volleyball game to raise awareness and funds. They will be selling shirts and taking donations. The funds raised will go into the Dan Stanton Memorial Scholarship.
(Pete Stanton, Head Coach) “It’s a great honor and it’s great that the school is doing that for us and for our family. He meant a lot to a lot of people and Coach Hartman, our volleyball coach, he was one of her coaches in high school, so I know they were really close, so I know it was just really special connection that they had. He was a former Dickinson State student and athlete here, so I know that he really would love the way they are supporting our family and doing things in his name.”
The volleyball game is this Friday at 7:00 against Briercrst College. The crowd is asked to wear grey to support Brain Cancer Awareness and fans can purchase their Stanton Strong t-shirts for $15.
