During the opening round of the 2018 NDHSAA Boys Soccer State Tournament, Bismarck and Century won in overtime, while Mandan fell to Davies.
Mandan, the No. 4 seed from West, fell to Fargo Davies, the No. 1 seed from East and last year’s state runners-up. Mandan surrendered two goals in the first half and went on to lose, 2-0.
The defending state champions, Bismarck High, needed overtime to defeat Grand Forks Central. The Demons moved on to the semifinals with a 3-2 win. The first semifinal will be a rematch of the last year’s state title between Bismarck High and Fargo Davies.
Century also need overtime to win their quarterfinal matchup with Fargo South. Century shook the net in the extra period to win, 1-0. Century will play the winner of West Fargo-Minot.
