Women’s College Basketball: Freshmen lead the way for Bismarck State

In women’s college basketball, Bismarck State has stormed out of the gate to a 9-1 start.

What’s most surprising about this team can be found on the roster. They have 11 freshman and three sophomores.

The stats tell the story of how vital a role these freshman have played. As a team, BSC averages 88 points a game. The top six scorers are freshman that combined for 74 points a game, which is 84 percent of the team’s points.

Their performance has really impressed sophomore starting point guard McKenna Weisenberger.

“It was a little different playing with other people,” Weisenberger said, “but we played a lot this summer, so we were able to click a lot faster. We really get along off the court so I think that contributes to a lot of it.”

Bismarck State is off until New Year’s Eve when they travel to Mesa Arizona for the Bruce Fleck Classic.
