There is more than 4,000 new cases of cancer this year in North Dakota according to the Cancer Statistics Center.
In order to ease the process for patients – people in the community are fueling the fight.
For every purchase at Tesoro, whether it’s in store or at the pump, 15% of the bill will be given to the Cancer Care Center in Minot.
Those funds will be put towards fuel vouchers for the patients to use when they travel to and from appointments.
“Over 50% of our patients travel more than 50 miles round trip and so one of the biggest barriers that we find is the out of pocket expenses and obviously the biggest one being the fuel that’s needed,” said Shane Jordan Trinity Cancer Care Center Director.
Anyone who gets more than 8 gallons of gas gets put in for a drawing to win a 50 dollar gas certificate per week for a year.
The event goes until 11pm in Minot.
