When is comes to severe weather being prepared and safe is key and as heavy thunderstorms make their way through the region we wanted to know how to do that.
If you’re caught outside during a thunderstorm make sure to get inside as soon as possible.
Lightning could strike at anyone, anytime, anywhere.
Also be sure to have a place you can take shelter. If your vehicle is your only shelter avoid going outside.
Stay away from windows and avoid anything that puts you in direct contact with electricity.
“It can kill you so on an average there’s about 47 deaths a year because of lightning so the saying is “when the thunder rolls go indoors,” said Amanda Schooling who is the Director of Emergency Management for Ward County
