From the KX Storm Team:
Temperatures are gradually climbing day by day, and we are wrapping up February with highs near & even slightly above average for this time of the year. This calm & gradually warming weather pattern will continue through the rest of the work week. Friday will be our next turning point.
A ridge of high pressure will slowly move East and out of the Dakotas. Friday will bring more clouds with scattered light snow & flurries possible. This will be a weak warm front and we are not looking at much in the way of snow totals. This will not be our only chance for snow and it will be warming up a little more. Friday’s highs will climb through the 30’s and into the lower to mid 40’s, possible.
Starting Saturday night, our next chance for snow will start to roll through the Northern Plains. This weekend snow storm could bring high totals to parts of the state. A Colorado low will begin to develop, late on Saturday. By Saturday night, snow associated with this low will move East & Northeast and into the Dakotas. Accumulating snow will be possible Sunday & Monday. At this time, we are still too far out from this storm to nail down snow totals. If the track of this low moves at all (further East or South) it could change a lot of what we are seeing with model guidance. Right now, there are only 2 different models that even reach out that far. However, during the next couple of days, more information will become available.
Continue to check in, on air & online at myndnow.com/weather. We will be tracking the development of this system and will let you update you with more information, as we get it. In the wake of our weekend snow chances, temps will drop again.
