Friday’s PM Forecast Update 6/16

Weather Blog
From the KX Storm Center:
It is breezy again today with scattered rain moving West to East across the state. Under partly to mostly cloudy skies, temps will stay near average with rain chances fizzling out, after sunset (9:39pm CT). This weekend will bring a few more changes with higher rain chances on Saturday. Widespread showers & scattered thunderstorms will bring light accumulations with most of us only getting up to 1/2″ of new rain. A few areas may get 1″ + but that will not be for everyone. All together, some of us will get another round of much needed rain and there is not a risk for severe weather. However, there is a Wind Advisory for the Southwest corner of the state. 25-35mph winds are expected with gusts near 45mph+. It would not surprise me if this advisory got expanded, but not everyone will be this windy.
Strong winds will remain in the forecast & start to taper off on Sunday. Father’s day will still be breezy with more sunshine and temps back to near average for this time of the year. Next week will bring a few more changes. Temps gradually warm back into the 80s for much of the state with more sunshine & lighter winds. However, rain chances end through most of the week. So a dry weather pattern with light to moderate winds and some warming will take over as our headlines.
Late next week, rain chances will return. Again, it does not look like high accumulations or severe weather. But… There is a chance for more rain!
