KX Storm Team Christmas Evening Forecast

Weather Blog

Expect seasonally cold and cloudy conditions for your Christmas night, as the advertised storm system begins to take shape to our southwest. Snow will begin in our southwest counties a few hours after midnight, and will begin from south to north through the morning hours. Snow will be heavy at times, particularly across central and south central North Dakota, with significant accumulations possible. Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings will be in effect through most of the day tomorrow. Snow will gradually end from west to east tomorrow evening. The main system on Thursday looks to skirt our area to the southeast. However, there has been some indication that more accumulating snow is possible, with the best chances again the southcentral and southeast parts of our viewing area. Regardless, cold arctic air will move in along with blustery winds, leading to blowing snow conditions across all of North Dakota. Friday will be quite cold with negative overnight temperatures, before a quick warm up this weekend. More cold air and increased snow chances north will arrive for New Year’s Day. -Meteorologist Dave Holder
