Fog will linger through the night up towards the north for much of the night. Meanwhile, precipitation is streaming in from the south along a surface trough that is a part of a very large system. Temperatures are hovering around freezing for most of the viewing area, but a warm layer of air aloft is keep much of precipitation at this time as sleet and freezing rain. This could create treacherous travel overnight, especially combined with the fog. Tomorrow all layers of the atmosphere will cool, and precipitation will turn to snow. The heaviest accumulations will be to the southwest part of the state, where totals of 4 or 5 inches are not out of the question. Much quieter weather then develops to end the weekend, and will continue through next week. Temperatures will remain a little below average. -Meteorologist Dave Holder
