KX Storm Team Friday Evening Forecast

Weather Blog

An area of low pressure is currently deepening to our southwest, and over the next few hours expect snow to overspread the southwestern viewing area. As the system strengthens snow will arrive across south North Dakota, where Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are currently in place. Snow will continue through the morning, heavy at times, and gradually wind down tomorrow afternoon. As the snow winds down, winds will pick up from the northwest, with gusts to 30 MPH possible. The latter half of the weekend looks to be much more tranquil with slightly cooler temperatures, and by Monday high pressure at the surface will give us sunshine and a warm up. In fact, temperatures could reach the upper 30s by midweek. Another system will impact the northern Plains by Wednesday, although timing and exact snow amounts are uncertain at this point. -Meteorologist Dave Holder
