KX Storm Team Thursday Evening Forecast

Weather Blog

As today’s system departs our attention turns quickly to the northwest as the next Alberta Clipper moves in. Expect a few rain showers tonight with a few snowflakes mixing in towards the Canadian border. Most will see dry conditions to begin Friday, with cloudy skies. Precipitation will begin in eastern Montana late tomorrow morning, with western North Dakota getting in on the action after the noon hour. Precipitation may begin as rain, especially for the southern half of the viewing area, but should quickly transition over to snow. Areas near a warm front, in particular southwest North Dakota, may remain in a rain event longer. Snowfall accumulations look to be highest in the northwest, with a few inches possible through central and south central North Dakota by Saturday afternoon. Another system arrives late Sunday, although this one will not have as much moisture to work with and should be less significant. Temperatures look to remain below average through the forecast period. -Meteorologist Dave Holder
