Thursday’s PM Forecast Update 10/26

Weather Blog

From the KX Storm Center:
After last night’s cold front, temps are 25-45 degrees cooler than this time yesterday. Not only is it much cooler, but winds are strong. Today’s peak gusts have been between 40 & 60mph, making it feel like the teens & 20s. A wind advisory will remain in effect for Western & Central ND through this evening with a high wind warning, East. So, just to say it is windy & cooler is an understatement. Scattered snow showers have been moving through the state today. After looking at DOT traffic cams, there is very little accumulation if any.
The biggest headlines in weather focus on winds & temps. It is going to stay well below average (avg low 20s/ high low 50s) for this time of the year. Today’s temps will not warm up much and will stay in the 30s for most of us. Add in strong winds and it will feel like it is in the teens.
This active weather pattern will start to change, tonight. Through the rest of the work week, expect more sunshine with even colder temps to start the day tomorrow. We will wrap up the work week with gradual warming. The warmest days during the next 7 will be this weekend. Highs will warm through the 40s Friday and settle in the 40s & 50s Saturday & Sunday. Starting Saturday night, our next system will begin to affect the Dakotas. Precip chances return with scattered rain/snow Saturday night/Sunday. Winds become strong again as we go into the beginning of the work week and off/on precip chances will not take a break for a few days. There will be a lull in rain/snow chances Tuesday. However, snow is back in the forecast as we go through the latter half of the 7day Outlook.
During the next 7days, we are not looking at any severe or extreme winter weather. But there will be a few more chances for snow with a roller coaster of temps.

Tonight will be mostly clear with gradually calming winds and it will get cold. Lows in the teens & 20s with a North/NW wind 15-25mph G40 and calming. Chills in the single digits for some.

Friday will start off cold with plenty of sunshine and continued calming winds. Highs in the 30s & 40s with a NW wind 5-15mph G20. AM chills in the single digits & teens through the late morning.

Friday night, not as cold with temps closer to average and a few more clouds. Lows in the 20s with a few teens and a SW/West wind 2-10mph. Chills in the teens & 20s.

Saturday will be a little warmer with continued seasonable temps and light wind. Highs in the 50s & 40s (East) and a West wind 2-12mph G20.

Saturday night will be chilly and not nearly as cold with more clouds rolling in and pricip chances back in play. Lows in the 30s with a few 40s and a light wind swinging around to the SW.
