Wednesday’s PM Forecast Update 9/27

Weather Blog

From the KX Storm Center:
After a chilly start, it feels very nice. Under plenty of sunshine, temperatures have climbed through the 60s and into the lower to mid 70s. Not only is it much warmer today, temps are above average (39/66) for this time of the year. If you are enjoying this weather, more is on the way. Through the next 72 hours a ridge of high pressure will stay over our region. With a few exceptions, not much will change until this weekend. Tomorrow a few of these changes will come with a passing cold front. Expect in & out clouds with little to no chance of rain. If anything, a few sprinkles will be possible. The biggest change will be winds. Thursday & Friday, it will become breezy for a few hours during the afternoon. Winds gusting between 20 & 30mph will not be out of the question as flow swings around to the Northeast and then Southeast by Friday.
This weekend will bring even more changes. It will be windy Saturday & Sunday and our next system will move through the Dakotas. Rain and a few thunderstorms will become scattered and even widespread for some. These rain chances will continue through Sunday and well into Monday before rain fizzles out an clouds move out of our area. Winds will stay strong through the beginning of the work week and start to calm down Tuesday & Wednesday. Also with this system & cold front, temps will fall back into the 60s. Highs will be near & below average, late in the 7day planner.
Even with rain back in the forecast through the weekend and into the next week, there is not a risk of severe weather at this time. Significant totals will be possible and some of us could even get 1″-2″ of rain. It is a little too soon to nail down rainfall accumulations, right now. But I will continue to track this upcoming system and update everyone as more info comes available. Much needed rain could be on the way for the weekend.

Tonight, not as chilly & mostly clear. Lows in the 40s with a NW/West wind 2-10mph.

Thursday will bring another round of sunshine with a few more clouds rolling in & pleasant temps. Highs in the 70s & 60s (Central & East) with a West/NE wind 5-15mph G20+.

Thursday night, mostly clear and a little chilly for some. Lows in the 40s with a few 30s and a light wind swinging around to the SE, 2-12mph.

Friday will bring plenty of sunshine with a few light clouds and another round of pleasant temps. Highs in the 60s & 70s with a SE wind 10-20mph G30+.

Friday night, partly cloudy and cool. Lows in the 40s & 50s with a SE/South wind 5-15mph G20.
