Bismarck/Mandan City and County Commissions have already adopted a plan to improve it’s 9-1-1 dispatch building— CenCom.
Now — they’re looking for your vote.
On June 12th — Measure 1 will be asking you to approve a fifty cent increase on your phone bill from $1.50 to $2.
In total — it will generate about $500,000 each year.
The goal is to generate funds and join with the Dakota Carrier Networks facility to pay for a long term lease.
Mike Dannenfelzer, Central Dakota Communication Center, says, “If there’s a problem with our facility there’s going to be a major problem with public safety response cause everything from fire alarms, 9-1-1 calls, burglar alarms, automatic vehicle notifications, and things like that — all of those things come through here… so if we are not able to field those calls first responders aren’t going to be coming for emergencies.”>>
If the measure passes– your phone bill will likely increase— as soon as August.
