There wasn’t much doubt going into Election Day, but the two hottest races in North Dakota Tuesday were the Senate race and Measure 3.
324,648 people cast a vote in the Senate race between Kevin Cramer and Heidi Heitkamp.
178,876 voted in favor of Cramer, while 143,737 voted for Heitkamp. A little more than 2,000 North Dakotans were casting for a write-in candidate.
In comparison 320,148 voted in the U.S. Representative race, which Kelly Armstrong won.
12 North Dakota counties favored Heitkamp last night including, Rolette, Benson, Sioux, Nelson, Grand Forks, Traill, Steele, Cass, Barnes, Ransom, Richland and Sargent.
In the hotly contested Measure 3 race 324,550 cast a vote.
The NO vote against Legalizing Marijuana sat at 192,965 while YES votes were 131,585.
In comparison, the other three statewide ballot Measures had nearly 10,000 less votes. They each sat in the range of 315,000 votes per Measure.
Four counties voted YES for Marijuana, they were Benson, Cass, Sioux and Rolette.
